Ready for holiday shopping gift number two? Flash cards have been evolving quickly, and the era of the CF Express card is upon us! Not long ago XQD cards started replacing SD cards because they were three times faster and more durable. But then CF Express cards arrived, and they were three times faster than XQD. Who really needs this speed? If you are shooting one of the new 45MP Sony, Canon or Nikon cameras, chances are you need CF Express. Nothing is more frustrating than watching your buffer light blink your camera cranks through writing files to you card. But with my D6 shooting at 14FPS, or my Z7II shooting at fast rates, buffer problems are a thing of the past. We still use SD cards in our mirrorless cameras, and they work great for travel, landscapes and portraits. But for fast action of any kind, we shoot CF Express. And with the Z9 coming out shortly at 20 or 30 FPS at 45MP, CF Express are going to be needed. There are many brands of CF Express, and prices vary, but we have always used Sandisk cards without problems. I like the 256 and 512GB versions for more space with my 45MP file size. Great stocking stuffers!
