Just in from a great time in NYC at Photo Plus. This expo is the big one for the U.S. and always has the latest in gear and industry news. I did presentations for Nikon and Manfrotto, thanks to all those who came by and said hello, great to see everyone!
A few things caught my eye that will be on my holiday shopping list! The new 1.4 85mm Nikon lens is amazing. If you shoot portraits, you will want this lens. The background has a great soft blur shooting at 1.4, and the lens is razor sharp where it is focused.
The Nikon P7000 is one great Coolpix. If you need a compact camera that has advanced features and great image quality, this is it.
Lastolite introduced a Tri Grip reflector that is silver on one side and translucent on the other side..it is like a two way mirror. So you can shoot through the translucent side like a diffusion silk, or flip it over and use the soft silver side to reflect light back.
The Elinchrom Quadra now has a ‘snappy’ carrying pouch which makes carrying the Quadra and attaching cables easier.
I tried out the Lowepro Flipside 400 pack. This pack is interesting in that is zips open on the backside where the hip belt and shoulder straps are, a great idea if you are putting your pack down in the dirt or snow. You can also access gear by shifting the pack to your frontside without putting it down. Excited to try this pack out in New Zealand next week.
Thanks to everyone who has been sending me emails lately from tradeshows and workshops. We will continue to answer questions and show techniques on this blog to keep it education focused.
