Photo Mechanic will make your photo editing easier

December 19, 2021 • Gear Talk, processing

If you have traveled with Cree and I, you know we love Photo Mechanic.  This simple, inexpensive program allows you to look at photos faster than anything else….maybe that’s why the overwhelming majority of photographers covering the Olympics were using it.  We use Lightroom like most photographers, but we use Photo Mechanic to cull images before importing them into Lightroom (why wait for LR to slowly import photos you are going to delete…no waiting with Photo Mechanic).  And we use it to preview images when we are on the road.  And one of the coolest things about Photo Mechanic is tagging images in-camera.  You simply lock or protect images that you want to tag reviewing them on the back of your camera.  When you open the folder of images in Photo Mechanic, just go to View-Tagged from the menu bar and you can see the images you picked in the field.  We really like the Photo Mechanic 6 version which is a simple browser with no database.  I can’t imagine our workflow without using it!
