Nikon 400mm F2.8 jaguar image

January 14, 2025 • In The News

Some of my latest work for Nikon included doing a write up about a lucky jaguar encounter in the Pantanal region of Brazil.  You can read the full story here.

We were leading a workshop searching for jaguars, and by luck we found a perfect hunting jaguar along the river.  I had seen some incredible hunting images of these big cats, and was hoping to find a clean jumping shot.  We happened to be broadside of the jaguar, with the background far in the background, creating a fantastic opportunity to photograph a stretched out leaping jaguar with a clean background.  So much of wildlife photography is just getting out there and looking, hoping to find a good shot.  I guess this day was my day, I’m just glad I didn’t miss the fast moving cat!
