Nikon 14-24mm F2.8 Z lens filter holder

February 3, 2021 • Gear Talk

One of the best things about the new Z mount Nikon 14-24mm F2.8 is it can take filters.  For starters, the lens comes with two different hoods, one of which allows you to screw in 100mm ND filters and polarizers.  This is a huge advantage over the F mount version which really can’t take filters.  I did buy an enormous filter holder for this lens, it did work okay, but it was just too big to carry around.  And this inconvenience made me use my 20mm 1.8 a lot since I could use filters.

But to use 100x150mm graduated ND filters with my Z mount 14-24mm, I needed to buy another holder.  Check out the NiSi filter holder for this lens (above). It is small, quickly attaches to the lens in seconds, and allows uses of 100 x150mm grad ND filters.  Awesome!  I just couldn’t believe how easy this adapter works, and it is about the same as my other graduated ND filter holder.  If you use filters and own this lens, you will want to buy one of these filter holders.  I can’t wait for that first crimson sunrise when I need a Singh-Ray 2 stop grad ND to tone down the highlight using this lens!
