Okay, I know I have been absent from blogging recently. I just returned from circling the globe teaching workshops for the last month, and what a trip it was. Starting in Alaska, then off to Norway, down to New Zealand via Singapore…and finally back to Colorado. I have lots to report on this blog, including some of my latest observations on Z9 autofocus modes. But today I thought I would answer a question that I get all the time, but one related to travel, and not to camera technique or gear. What are my favorite travel clothes/pants?
Hands down my favorite pants are the stretch Zion II pants by Prana. These pants are stretchy, super comfortable, and have a built in belt. They also have elastic waistband versions too. Prana offers a new heavier fabric (AT) version for more warmth. The Zions have a zip cargo pocket on the side which is where my cell phone lives during travel. Since they have no belt, I can go through X-ray and scanning machines without setting off alarms. The bottoms cuffs can be rolled up and snapped to create a capri style pant. And the stretch Zions come in a variety of colors and sizes. I just did multiple 14 hour flight segments sitting in these pants, and they are very comfortable and stretchy. I’ve tried a variety of travel pants through the years, but have never found something to replace my stretch Zions.
I also wear a lot of other Prana gear including shirts, SPF treated hoodies (Sol Defender) and Bridger Jeans. The clothes are just made for casual wear, but durable enough for weeks on the road hiking, lying in the dirt or going out to dinner. Check them out if you are looking for great travel clothes!
